NAVTEQ, the leading global provider of maps, traffic and location data enabling navigation, location-based services and mobile advertising around the world, announced that, following a recent launch in the UAE, its renowned real time traffic service, NAVTEQ Traffic Pro, is now available to consumers on the Nokia range of smartphones.

With the dramatic growth of GPS data collected from millions of handsets and connected in car and PND devices, NAVTEQ has been able to accelerate expansion and the UAE, where traffic information is particularly valued, was the company’s first traffic launch in the Middle East. “Nokia’s decision to offer NAVTEQ Traffic Pro on all its latest smartphones sold here is a great step forward in meeting consumer demand in the region,” commented Ghassan Freij, General Manager MENA NAVTEQ. “We will continue to work with all our customers to bring traffic information to as many UAE drivers as possible.”

NAVTEQ Traffic Pro delivers up to the minute information fast and frequently, accurately reflecting real world conditions on motorways, main and secondary roads. In the UAE, it covers in excess of 3,700 kilometres of road network including the key metropolitan areas of Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah. It’s all about arriving safely and efficiently.”
