Egypt’s Ministry Of Tourism And Nebny Foundation Launch Egypt. Now Festival From July 1st – 18th

Published Jul 3, 2011

The Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Nebny Foundation –a youth led grassroots foundation born out of the Egyptian revolution – joined forces today to announce the Egypt.now Festival which will take place in Cairo and Alexandria from July 1st – 18th, 2011. Egypt. Now aims to capture positive messages about Egypt’s essence by showcasing ‘youth for freedom’ and inviting the world to support Egypt 2011. The festival will take the form of three main pillars – Jobs. Now Forum, Art & Craft fair as well as a Film festival.

“The Egyptian youth, who has inspired the world by leading a revolution with courage and resolve to bring down a corrupt and autocratic regime, is now expected to work hard with the same courage and resolve to make Egypt a strong, democratic, secular, modern and just nation. It is Now that we all have to work hand in hand to achieve our goals and aspirations.” said HE Dr. Mounir Fakhry AbdelNour, Minister of Tourism, Egypt.

Jobs. Now forum will see the world’s foremost economical, social and political entrepreneurs, experts and innovators come together at the Bibliotecha Alexandrina on July 11th and 12th to envision the future of Egypt and catalyze large scale collaborative economic and social opportunities for change.
“Since its rebirth in 2001, the Library of Alexandria has encouraged young people to play a greater role in the service of society. Now more than ever, it is increasingly important to ensure that young people become active participants toward mapping out a better future for themselves. The Library of Alexandria is proud to partner with Nebny Foundation on this initiative to help meet the challenges ahead of us and to identify the opportunities that would bring about the necessary change.” said Ambassador Aly Maher, Senior Advisor, Bibliotheca Alexandrina.

Also taking place outside the forum at the Bibliotecha Alexandrina will be an exhibit of 1000 Egyptian university students participating in the ‘Young Entrepreneurs of the Year Competition’, an annual competition led by Injaz Misr. Injaz Misr is an education organization which trains university students all over Egypt to become young entrepreneurs by forming teams and starting businesses from creating a well thought-out business plan to producing an actual product or service. The key message to be portrayed by Injaz Misr’s participation is to showcase the innovation, talent and potential of Egypt’s youth who will lead the future of Egypt.

The multifaceted Egypt. Now Art & Craft Fair will take the form of a flea market at Gezira Promonade in Zamalek encouraging Egyptian arts and crafts from a modern art exhibition to a big open air market; it will include art, crafts and artisans’ workshops as well as street art. Additionally, local artists and craftsmen who depended on tourism and were affected deeply in the current economic downturn will be exhibiting and selling their products in an open bazaar to welcome the world and encourage local economic activity.

The third pillar of the festival – the Egypt. Now Music and Film Festival – will showcase concerts by leading Egyptian bands such as West El Balad and Zabaloon, Rash and Sandook Khashab and will take place at the Andalus Garden, Sawy Culture Wheel as well as the Opera House from 1st to the 18th of July. Also at the Andalus Garden, films which were born out of the revolution by Egyptian youth and filmmakers will be screened for visitors in an outdoor cinema. The Egypt. Now Music and Film Festival aims to invite the world to come to Egypt and celebrate peace and freedom with Egyptians.

“We look forward to the success of Egypt. Now festival and hope this annual event invites the world to support Egypt 2011, serve as a guide to the world developing countries, and turn into a yearly global event.” Concluded Taymour Emam Nebny Foundation Co-Founder.
