New Xerox DocuMate® 4440 Scans More Than Just Paper

Published Jul 5, 2011

Xerox Corporation today announced the Xerox DocuMate® 4440, a new compact, sheet-fed document scanner intended to reduce paper chaos, document storage requirements and security risks associated with unorganized paperwork in healthcare and insurance offices. It is one of the fastest and easiest to use scanners in its class offering duplex scanning performance of up to 80 images per minute (40 pages per minute), plastic hard card scanning, Kofax VRS image enhancement and ultrasonic double feed detection.

Healthcare and insurance markets have scanning requirements that go beyond scanning clean-laser quality pages. Items such as ID cards, multi-part forms, varying paper sizes, barcodes and hand-written notes require different imaging techniques. “The DocuMate 4440 handles it all,” said John Capurso, vice president of marketing at Visioneer, a Xerox licensing partner. “The 50-page automatic document feeder makes short work out of any stack of various sized paper and plastic cards including driving licenses and medical or insurance cards — this technology delivers versatility and speed without compromising quality.”

Healthcare & Insurance Applications:

The advanced features of the DocuMate 4440 help healthcare and insurance offices eliminate cumbersome, expensive and time-consuming paper-based processes:

• Communicate seamlessly with leading medical records and workflow software applications. The DocuMate 4440 is a low-cost scanning solution for front-office scanning, patient receiving and registration with TWAIN 2.1 Certified Drivers.
• Reduce the number of countless hours lost on data entry, routing and filing paper documents, not to mention the high risk for error due to hand-keying and potential for misfiling.
• Safeguard patient information by digitally archiving and distributing information collected during patient registration process.
• Scan with ease using the top loading ADF. Designed with a straight paper path to ensure that ID and insurance cards, as well as paper documents will feed straight through.

Keep Scans Organized:

Powered by Visioneer OneTouch® technology, the scanner allows users to scan to the “destination” of their choice by pressing a single button, eliminating multiple steps usually required to save scanned documents in popular file formats. Using Visioneer CONNECT, a set of links for Visioneer OneTouch, users are able to scan and automatically upload earth-bound documents to popular cloud destinations such as Google Docs™, Evernote®, DropBox and others with the touch of one button. Bundled software includes Kofax® VRS™, Nuance® PaperPort®, OmniPage Pro®, an certified TWAIN, ISIS and WIA drivers and Visioneer OneTouch with Kofax® VRSTM technology. Optional Kofax VRS Pro bundle that enables barcode scanning is also available.

Pricing, Availability:

Priced at $895, the Xerox DocuMate 4440 with Kofax VRS Basic is available first week of July 2011 through major resellers and online channel partners.
