R&M Expands Sales Organization in Western Europe

Swiss cabling specialist R&M is expanding its sales operations in Western Europe. A recently opened branch in Apeldoorn in the Netherlands is a key factor in the restructured sales organization. At the opening ceremony, CEO Martin Reichle called the project a strategic investment. He explained it was another step by R&M to push its decentralized growth strategy as well as regional and local customer service. Martin Reichle: "Western Europe is a growing market for us. R&M will be able to establish a strong position there and further develop the European market."

An international 15-member Western European team supports customers and installation partners in about ten countries, including the Benelux region, France, Great Britain and Scandinavia. In the months ahead R&M intends to hire additional sales staff as well as experts in logistics and engineering. Martin Reichle: "We want to utilize the considerable potential of this market primarily with local experts." There is a qualified technical staff available to the branch in Apeldoorn, which serves as base, back office, warehouse and training center. They work from home in their own countries. Managing Director Richard Eichhorn heads up the Western Europe Sales Region.

Recently, R&M has landed a number of new customers and projects in Western Europe. Mid-year sales were up by 31% in 2011 compared to the year before. CSO Ingo Kübler: "That is why we were called on to step up our presence in the area. R&M can also be more effective in meeting demands from local customers for specific cabling solutions for data, voice and video communication."

R&M is increasingly committed as a manufacturer of customized complete solutions for specific markets and customers in sales regions ranging from Western Europe to the Middle East and Asia, Several logistics hubs are being built up and equipped with additional manufacturing capabilities. The R&M branches cooperate with local distributors and qualified installation partners. Managing Director Richard Eichhorn: "That way we make sure we are giving our customers and partners better support and really differentiate ourselves from the competition."

Reichle & De-Massari AG (R&M) develops and manufactures passive cabling solutions for communication networks. With high-quality copper and fiber optic cable products, R&M has gained the reputation of a leader in quality. The company has established its own marketing organizations in 30 countries, grouped into seven sales regions. R&M achieves 71% of its sales abroad. Sales in 2010 totaled CHF 179.6 million; EBIT was 0.6 percent. Every year the company invests 5% of sales in research and development. R&M is one of the 500 largest companies in Switzerland and currently has a workforce of around 600 employees. The company is wholly owned by the Reichle family and is now being run by the second generation as an independent family-owned company.
