Published Aug 18, 2009
Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd., a leading consumer electronics producer, recently hosted a roundtable discussion focusing on the company's 2009 strategy for their Consumer Electronics division in Egypt as well as providing insight on their latest TV monitor, Samsung's LED TV.

Mr. Duke Park, Branch Manager of the Samsung Cairo Office, developed on the specifics of the LED and its strategy, while Mr. Amr Hayaly, CE division manager, presented the Consumer Electronics Division Strategy for 2009.

'As a global leader in innovation and technology, Samsung is excited to share the Samsung Consumer Electronics strategy for 2009 as well as the amazing innovations of our consumer electronics division, including our cutting edge LED flat panel TVs,' said Mr. Duke Park, General Manager Samsung Cairo Office.

'Samsung was the first to bring LED technology to the Egyptian market and we look forward to continuing the trend as market leaders in technology and innovation'.

Roundtable attendees were able to see for themselves the latest Samsung LED TV on display at the event.

Mr. Park presented the various components of the LED and highlighted the ultra slim design as well as the high definition, crystal clear image and the new technology, Media 2.0, integrated into the Samsung LED TV.

Following the product presentation, he highlighted Samsung's sales performance since the start of 2009.

By the end of 2008, Samsung was the global market share leader in terms of market share value (23, 1%) and units share value (20%).

Since then, Samsung has increased in both Egypt, throughout the world, to consolidate their Number One position. Their most notable increase is in the large screen market.

With the launch earlier this year of the Samsung LED flat panel TV, Mr. Park explained how it changed Samsung's performance in the premium segment market.

Their global market share in the premium segment market increased from 12% in the first quarter of 2008 to a staggering 83% by May 2009.

Market share and Unit share values present evidence of Samsung's LED TV popularity among consumers.

The Samsung LED TV has also won great acclaim among industry insiders, receiving numerous awards and excellent reviews top tier industry organisations and publications, such as the CES Innovation Award and great reviews in the Wall Street Journal and the Financial Times.

Following Mr. Park's presentation, Mr. Amr Hayaly presented the strategy for the Consumer Electronics division.

He described the situation in the various segments within the Consumer Electronics division: TVs, Home Appliance and Audio system.

For the upcoming year, the strategy for the TVs is divided into two components: expanding the LED TV within its specific segment; and solidifying the LCD TV's position by answering customer's demands and stylish designs.

With regards to the Home Appliances, he explained that the primary goal is to always offer design and convenience to the customers.

As part of the long term strategy, Samsung is planning to launch a full range of air conditions, refrigerators, washing machines, microwaves and vacuum cleaners in the Egyptian market.

Mr. Amr Hayaly also explained that Samsung is not only committed to providing quality products but also in developing strategic business partnerships to ensure excellent after sales service and the consistency of Samsung standards for the benefit of all consumers.
