Successful Summer Boosts Tablet’s Reputation As Ultimate Holiday Accessory

Published Oct 2, 2011

The tablet has emerged as one of the summer’s biggest tech hits, connecting and entertaining families like never before.

From games and videos to travel apps and office connectivity, the device’s versatility has transformed the way people plan, spend and reflect on their holidays.

Packaging an entire families’ tech needs into one powerful and portable solution simply makes vacating more efficient – not to mention fun.
Whether it is entire book and record collections on the go, edutainment distractions for restless kids or photography tools for those precious memories, the tablet has proven itself as the ultimate holiday survival kit.

The trend for tablet users to step away from the technological status quo was recently highlighted in a comprehensive survey by the Nielsen Company; 32% of tablet owners use their laptops less often or not at all, with similar figures for eReaders (27%), portable media players (27%) and portable game console users (25%).

The survey also found that a staggering 70% of tablet fans use the device while watching TV, whereas a sociable 40% use it with friends and family.
“The tablet has well and truly emerged as the ultimate travel accessory this summer, particularly for families. Whether beach-bound, pool-side or just enjoying the sunshine outside, tablets provide the entertainment consumers demand while on-the-go and the connectivity needed for those that want to stay in touch with family who can’t be there. Workaholics can also have peace of mind with office and business applications at their fingertips,” said Raed Hafez, general manager, Mobile Devices, Motorola Mobility, EMEA.

With a battery life providing up to 10 hours video playback on a crystal clear10.1” HD screen, the Motorola XOOM™ is ideal for lengthy flights and extended stopovers, as well as long, relaxing family days on the beach.

Motorola XOOM also features a rear-facing 5MP camera with flash that captures video in 720p HD, giving travelers crisp, clear images and videos of their travels – all viewable immediately on-screen or on any HDTV with HDMI connectivity. In addition, Motorola XOOM sports a front-facing 2MP camera, specially designed for video calling – allowing homesick travellers to connect with family and friends back home.

To enhance the consumer experience Motorola offers a range of accessories for Motorola XOOM, including a protective portfolio case to prevent damage while in transit and a speaker dock to enhance multimedia viewing.
