Etisalat, the leading operator in Middle East and Africa and Huawei, a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider, have announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU). As part of the agreement, Huawei and Etisalat will work together to set the foundations for an Intensive Internship program that aims to improve competencies and capabilities of Etisalat staff specially the ones enrolled in the Leadership Development Programs of Etisalat.
The signing ceremony was held at Huawei Headquarters in Shenzhen China and was attended by Steven Woods, Huawei Human Resources Vice President and Faiez Awadh, Etisalat Human Resources Senior Vice President. Also present were Ahmed Al Doobi, Etisalat Vice President Human Resources and other Etisalat dignitaries. Complementing same, senior officials from Huawei University and Learning Services participated in the discussions.

The internship program outlined in the MoU will consist of a series of joint activities in which senior officials from Huawei and Etisalat will join forces in the creation of a professional-development program tailored to each of the trainee’s chosen career path and conducted over a period of two to three months.

“The prime purpose of this internship program is to provide Etisalat employees with a meaningful experience ranging from (2 – 3 months) with leading companies such as Huawei, in order to enhance their competencies and skills. Moreover, Etisalat would like to build on the current business partnership with Huawei and take that into the next level toward achieving our strategic goals of developing and progressing Etisalat Staff and promoting knowledge based culture, which will lead us to our ultimate goal of placing the UAE as a hub for telecommunication and IT in the region” said Faiez Awadh, Senior Vice President Human Recourses of Etisalat.

”Having partnered with Etisalat on a number of landmark projects across the MENA region, Huawei is looking forward to this collaboration in providing new avenues for the professional development of UAE nationals within the region’s ICT industry,” said Albert Liuzebin, Managing Director of Huawei Etisalat Global Key Account. “For both Huawei and Etisalat, creating a platform through which to share experiences and best practices will be invaluable in driving the advancement of the telecommunications sector.”

This latest MoU is further testament to both companies ongoing commitment to mentoring ambitious young executives who are passionate about pursuing careers in the ICT industry. Etisalat’s own Future Leaders Programmes—endorsed by renowned international institutions—has also proven widely successful in fostering the advancement of employees who demonstrate strong leadership potential.
