Etisalat’s Leadership In Wholesale Carrier And Networks Recognised At “Telecoms World Middle East 2011

Etisalat was recently awarded “Best Middle Eastern Wholesale Carrier and ” Best Operator Network” categories at “Telecoms World Middle East 2011” which took place In Dubai. Mr. Ali Amiri, Executive Vice President of Etisalat’s Carrier and Wholesale services and Mr. Ahmed bin Ali, Group Senior Vice President Corporate Communications received the awards on behalf of Etisalat.

The awards were distributed amongst significant competition in various categories as judges were looking for evidence of network optimization, investments in upgrades, innovation and quality of service to recognize the operator which has demonstrated the ability to provide secure and reliable network infrastructure across the Middle East region. Etisalat was granted the awards for its innovative business model, successful partnering strategy and technology deployment that supports its thriving wholesale carrier business.

In terms of its network capabilities Etisalat recently launched its LTE-FDD mobile network in the UAE to be one of the first telecommunications operators in the world to complete this technological achievement which enhances the country’s global position in terms of providing advanced telecommunication services. The network offers tremendous potential in terms of internet services. 4G (LTE) has also unparalleled potential and capabilities in enhancing customer--experience. The LTE network offers speeds exceeding 100 Mbs and is particularly effective when utilising large amounts of data, such as watching high definition movies, playing online multiplayer games, using social applications and utilising other bandwidth-intensive applications.


Etisalat Carrier and Wholesale division continues expanding its Middle East service portfolio and physical reach. The year 2011 witnessed the operational launch of SmartHub, a multi service hub serving Capacity, Content and host of VAS mobile services. The Smarthub is the region’s first and most important hub for wholesale connectivity, applications and content. Content in particular has been a driving factor for Etisalat that has announced several IPTV and OTT initiatives for regional distribution of content in 2011. Etisalat’s roaming coverage is now considered the best in the world and provides the backbone for advanced wholesale mobile applications. Etisalat’s Smart Hub launch includes a range of mobile services including the Roaming Hub which enables any operator to immediately avail of Etisalat’s 620 international roaming agreements.
