Nawras offers free trial of high speed broadband to customers in Al Mabailah North Fibre-To-The-Home gives internet speeds up to 100Mbps

Published Oct 17, 2011

Nawras, Oman’s customer friendly communications provider is offering a free trial of high speed broadband to around 200 customers living in Al Mabailah North. For a three month period, customers will be invited to experience the benefits of Fibre-To-The-Home (FTTH) with download speeds of between 10 Mbps and 100 Mbps, completely free of charge.

This pilot project marks the exciting beginning of this new service. Nawras is delighted to be working with Haya Water Company and the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority to implement the fibre optic technology needed to provide high speed broadband.

A selection of four different FTTH pricing plans offering a variety of different speeds will be trialled to enable Nawras to fine tune its offerings ahead of the full commercial launch of this service. Customers will be able to test the speed, reliability and stability of FTTH.

“Obtaining customer feedback is always of great importance to our caring company,” said Said Al Shanfari, Nawras Strategic Business Development Manager - FTTX Project Manager. “The launch of new products and services incorporates comments and experiences gathered during the planning stages to ensure that final offerings reflect real customer needs.”

Abdulsalam Al Sinawi, Senior Telecom Unit Manager at Haya Water, added, “We are delighted that Nawras is able to benefit from the construction of our water reuse project by using the trenches we are digging to lay these FTTH cables – making this a cost effective solution for our telecom partner. As an infrastructure provider we are proud to be adding additional value and economies of scale from our development.”

Nawras people will shortly be contacting customers living in the trial area and offering this fantastic free opportunity to them. Customers in the Al Mabailah North will be the first to experience this new service and first to benefit from the advantages of the new high speed broadband service which is particularly beneficial for e-gaming.

FTTH sees Nawras continuing to enhance the communications experience of people in Oman. Listening to customers and making it easier for them to buy, use, get help and pay, is integral to the Nawras success story.

Nawras is a member of the Qtel Group, the leading regional telecommunications group with a presence in 17 markets and a customer base of more than 77 million.
