Sony Ventures Into Tablet Market

Sony will launch its debut tablet device, the Sony Tablet S in the UAE in January 2012. The tablet features a 9.4-inch high resolution touchscreen and runs off the Nvidia Tegra 2 mobile processor.
The tablet is coupled with Sony\'s rapid response technologies, designed to allow for faster browsing of content and applications.
The Sony Tablet S model features a front and rear facing camera for still and video image capture, an inbuilt USB 2.0 port and SD card slot and weighs approximately 598 grams (WiFi version).
The device is also equipped with TruBlack technology by Sony, designed to reduce reflection and glares for high-contrast visibility by controlling the refraction of light between the LCD and the screen.
Sony Tablet S is designed to allow users to control their home entertainment devices and share content wirelessly. Personal photos, music and video content can also be streamed from Sony Tablet S to DLNA-compatible TV sets, wireless speakers and other devices.
The tablet also includes infrared technology and can be used as a fully customisable remote control for multiple home devices, including televisions, Blu-ray Disc players and home theatre set-ups. It is also compatible with ‘Media Remote\' that provides users with control of Sony devices, including Bravia, through WiFi.
The Sony Tablet S comes with a range of preinstalled applications and provides instant access to Google mobile services and applications, including 3D maps and easy web search with Google Voice Search.
Customers can pre-book the Sony Tablet at selected outlets across UAE starting 20th December, 2011. The Sony Tablet S will be available at all leading electronic stores from January 2012.
