Winning entries for Panasonic’s Eco Picture Diary Competition are truly inspirational, says Panasonic executive.
The young winners were honoured at a gala awards ceremony in Dubai and part of the festivities was a chance for the children to design a hybrid toy car. This is the second year running that Panasonic has facilitated a workshop for eco learning.
The UAE’s Yousef Al Habsi, Oman’s Fiona Violet Fernandes, Lebanon’s Myriam Khoury, Syria’s Amal Shbeeb, Kuwait’s Heba Nabih Sadeq, KSA’s Filzah Hassan, and Kenya’s Cassandra Anne Sagina are this year’s winners.
Furthermore, the top winner from the Middle East, Levant and Africa is heading to Paris for the global ceremony. KSA’s Filzah Hassan was the overall winner for the Middle East region, and Syria’s Amal Shbeeb for Levant and Kenya’s Cassandra Anne Sagina for Africa.
The Panasonic Eco Diary Competition is designed to encourage 6-15 year-old children to learn more about protecting the environment. Children have to illustrate and express their eco ideas in writing.
These activities or ideas could include an eco-friendly activity carried out at school or at home.
“We have to encourage our children to be environmentally conscious at an early age, and this competition is designed to do exactly that. It is very important that we teach the children who are our future, to preserve and protect the environment,” said Anthony Peter, Director, Direct Communications & Customer Care (DCCC) Group.
As part of the competition children were asked to make an Eco Diary that depicted five days of activity. Each diary consisted of a total of five pages of illustrations of their activities and explanations.
Learning about global warming at school, noticing eco bags at supermarkets or observing healthy trees and flowers in local gardens are just some subjects that the children tackled.

Panasonic strongly believes that teaching values surrounding the subject of a healthy environment at an early age helps to develop a better understanding among children and help them become eco champion of the world.
