Hackers Attack CIA Website

Published Feb 13, 2012

Hacker group, Anonymous has claimed responsibility for attacking the website of the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) which left it inaccessible for several hours. ''CIA Tango down,'' a member of Anonymous said on a Twitter feed used by the group. ''Tango down'' is an expression used by US Special Forces when they eliminate an enemy. Last June, Lulz Security, an Anonymous-affiliated group, also temporarily disabled the CIA website. Most Anonymous cyber-attacks are Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks, in which a large number of computers are commanded simultaneously to visit a website, overwhelming the site's servers.
