Gigaset SL910A – A Smartphone For Your Home

Published Feb 19, 2012

It’s about time our home phone got a bit of technology love: German manufacturers Gigaset launched the Gigaset SL910A last week, a new ‘flagship’ model that brings the style and functionality of a smartphone to the dull and chunky little device we call a home phone.

The SL910A features a large, capacitive screen and holds several ‘apps’ such as contact list, alarm, screensaver, answering machine, etc. The address book can hold up to 500 vCard entries and can be transferred with the PC or mobile phone via Bluetooth or a mini-USB port. Users can also transfer calls from their mobile phone to the handset using the Bluetooth.

Interestingly, the phone can also be used as a baby monitor via a dedicated app. It can be configured according to sensitivity, with the alarm being able to forward itself to either an internal or external line.

“We are extremely excited to introduce Gigaset’s latest technologically-advanced home phone in the UAE. The SL910 A is the epitome of German cordless technology, and has been developed after passionate research on the consumer needs, integrated with experience in producing top quality cordless phones. Our users have always trusted in our phones for their supreme quality and the new addition promises to carry this forward,” said Shahzad Ahmed, CEO of Gigaset communications for MEA & India.

The SL910A measures 8.1cm diagonal and is draped in silver colored housing of polished real metal. It’s a bit on the heavy side, nothing you can carry around, but has a solid, premium feel to it. Gigaset claims it has a range of 50 meters indoors and upto 300 meters outdoors, with the talk time being 14 hours.

The Gigaset SL910A will cost AED 699 and will be coming to retail soon.
