Published Sep 1, 2009
Aastra, a company at the forefront of open-standards enterprise communications, announced that Extreme Networks has become a qualified member of its Aastra Approved Partner Program known as A2P2.

This will enable functional integration of Extreme Networks award winning Ethernet network switching portfolio with the Aastra 5000 to deliver complete communications solutions for the enterprise market in EMEA.

Aastra 5000 is an innovative software based IP call control manager designed for medium to large sized businesses (500 to 150,000 users, including multi site networks) that helps improve employee productivity and performance through unified communications and collaboration solutions.

Extreme Networks is a global provider of high performance, reliable and scalable Ethernet networks for enterprises and service providers.

The company provides superior value to customers through a simplified approach that includes support from the edge to the core of networks, a single software operating system across its Ethernet platforms, ExtremeXOS® and sub 50 millisecond resiliency allowing for high quality converged communications across the network.

“Working with Aastra helps expand our customers’ choice for convergence solutions at a time when Unified Communications technology is adding numerous benefits to business users,” said Aziz Ala’ali, Regional Director for Extreme Networks, Middle East & Africa.

“Aastra provides the strong performance, customer support and open framework that allows customers to architect their converged network”.

Aastra recently tested Extreme Networks switching solutions, including the Summit® X450e and X250e GbE and FE switches under the A2P2 program and achieved full compliant status with the Aastra 5000.

This certification complements Aastra’s portfolio of enterprise communications solutions based on open standards, benefiting from a rich offering of network products.

Furthermore, it will allow Aastra to better address the Large Enterprise market which is a focus market for Aastra.

Pierre Alexandre Fuhrmann, Joint Vice President, Global Technology and Development at Aastra, comments: “We welcome Extreme Networks joining Aastra’s growing number of technology partners that are part of our Approved Partner Program. As more enterprises are deploying IP telephony with the goal to consolidate voice and data infrastructure while reducing their operational costs, this certification helps to simplify and accelerate the delivery of seamless voice and data solutions by guaranteeing interoperability and compliance with Extreme Networks products”.
