Seagate Showcases Drives For Enterprise And Consumer Applications At CeBIT 2012

Published Mar 7, 2012

Seagate Technology’s partners will showcase the company’s industry leading solid state and hard drive solutions at CeBIT 2012 in Hanover, Germany, 6-10 March. In an environment where the demand for storage continues to grow and where capacity requirements, application workloads and user needs define the customer’s choice of storage device, Seagate’s offering at CeBIT covers all options; traditional hard disk drives (HDDs), solid state drives (SSDs) and the company’s Momentus® XT solid state hybrid drive (SSHD).

Adaptec by PMC is demonstrating a server – powered by 22 Seagate Pulsar.2™ SSDs – that doubles storage performance, reduces power consumption and increases reliability in a smaller data center footprint to help meet soaring demands on data centers while driving down total cost of ownership. The Seagate Pulsar.2 solid state drives, designed specifically for complex enterprise workloads, provide the most consistent performance, low latency, endurance and data integrity that data centers crave. These drives help enterprises meet stringent service level agreements and are the enterprise SSD of choice to work with PMC’s 24-port SRCv RAID-on-Chip, a RAID controller card prototype.

Server specialist Starline will present their new server and storage solutions using Seagate enterprise hard drives; Savvio® 10K.5, Savvio® 15K.3 and Constellation® ES.2 . The Savvio drives are high-performance 2.5-inch HDDs, which have the highest performance, reliability and storage capacity for mission-critical server and storage systems. The Constellation ES.2 drive is a 3.5-inch hard drive with up to 3TB of storage capacity. Due to its high capacity and energy efficiency the drive is the ideal solution to keep operating costs in corporate data centres low.

Schenker Notebooks will present its latest gaming notebooks, which are equipped with the second generation of Seagate’s Momentus XT drive. This solid state hybrid drive provides a storage capacity of up to 750 GB and is nearly three times faster than a traditional hard disk drive. The Momentus XT drive stands out because it unifies the best of both worlds. It is the combination of magnetic and flash storage. Therefore users benefit from the speed advantages of the SSD technology and the massive capacity of HDDs drives - ideal for gamers who have high performance and capacity demands on their hard drives.
