Published Apr 8, 2012

Dubai eGovernment recently launched the government resources planning systems upgrade at a meeting that was attended by officials from Dubai eGovernment, headed by Wissam Lootah, Assistant Director General, and Huda Al Hashimi, Director of GRP Department; as well as representatives from 42 government entities.
The government resources planning (GRP) systems upgrade for Oracle includes many new features that fits the requirements of eGovernment in terms of streamlining processes, preparation, archiving and consolidating reports. The GRP upgrade was consolidated into presentations that highlighted the expected results and benefits of the system upgrade, and answered queries from representatives of government entities. Under the schedule, teams representing government entities will train until July on the new features that will be implemented in the new version. There will be a trial period for the system until August, while the system will be officially launched at the end of October. The training sessions will be divided into two categories: financial and human resources management, and supply chains and payroll.

H.E. Ahmed Bin Humaidan, Director General of Dubai eGovernment, said: “It is important to upgrade the government resources planning systems as they are crucial in the ongoing government integration in Dubai. The GRP systems provide a comprehensive network to connect, communicate and exchange information among government entities, while maintaining the privacy of each department. Moreover, these systems create an integrated infrastructure that helps government entities in managing basic resources efficiently, and to further advance eTransformation in the Dubai.”

Bin Humaidan added: “The meeting yielded significant results and generated important recommendations that are based on the implementation plans designed by the Dubai eGovernment specialized working groups, which are tasked to update the systems in line with the vision of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.”

Dubai eGovernment has contracted Mahindra Satyam to upgrade the government resources planning system in phases, from its current version 11i to R12, the latest system provided by Oracle. The upgrade covers the seven main systems Dubai eGovernment provides to government entities: Human Resources, Payroll, Finance, Purchasing & Inventory and Assets Management, Employee Self-service Systems and the portal for eJob and eSupplier.

These systems are composed of 25 streams that provide a platform for more efficient management of basic resources and human competencies. These systems are critical because they allow Dubai eGovernment to provide a unified platform for reliable data that match the highest standards of quality and performance.
