Etisalat UAE Enables Customer Connectivity To The Republic Of South Sudan

Published Apr 26, 2012

As part of its ongoing efforts to enhance its customers' connectivity to the rest of the world, Etisalat UAE has opened up South Sudan telecom networks. Customers in the UAE can now make calls to the Republic of South Sudan, which was officially declared an independent state on 9 July 2011. Starting today, customers will also enjoy roaming services while traveling to South Sudan.

To make international calls from the UAE to South Sudan, customers need to dial +211, followed by the destination number. Based on the customer’s subscription plan, calls will be charged similar to those made to North Sudan with dial code +249. As per the basic tariff plan, calls will be charged at AED2.40 per minute during peak hours and AED1.89 per minute during off-peak hours. For more information on rates, customers can call 101.

Commenting on the new service, Matthew Willsher, Chief Marketing Officer at Etisalat said, “We at Etisalat work relentlessly to increase our customer’s global reach and connectivity. Opening telecom networks to South Sudan lets our customers keep in touch with their businesses and communicate with their friends or families residing in this newly independent Republic.”

Etisalat provides its customers access to the region’s widest roaming network through partnerships with nearly 650 networks for voice, across more than 190 countries globally.
