Xerox Waterless Print Systems: New Entry Point for High-speed Color Inkjet Market
Published May 15, 2012
|
High-speed color inkjet devices continue to gain a foothold in the graphic communications market, and Xerox has unveiled two new options at drupa 2012 that deliver the technology to users who need sharp image quality at various print volumes. The Xerox CiPress™ 500 and the 325 Production Inkjet Systems are the world’s only high-speed waterless inkjet devices.
Going waterless means commercial printers, direct marketing companies, service bureaus and in-plant operations can print quality, colorful images and graphics on low-cost, plain paper without ink soaking through.
Xerox CiPress 500
Printing 500 feet or 2,180 full-color pages per minute, the twin-engine device efficiently creates personalized marketing, transpromo and publishing pieces.
The inkjet system was tested by U.S.-based dmh Marketing Partners, a direct-mail company that creates more than 800 million pieces annually. By using the Xerox CiPress 500, dmh achieved consistent quality from page to page, spending less time on recalibrating the printing press and more time maximizing profitable revenue opportunities.
“We are constantly looking for cutting-edge technology to drive the manufacturing process and we believe the CiPress 500 is the best technology for high-volume production,” said Randy Seberg, chief technology officer, dmh Marketing Partners.
The CiPress 500 also features an ink optimization mode. Users can reduce the amount of ink coverage on pages that have more text and fewer graphics, such as transactional pieces
Xerox CiPress 325
For printers with lower average monthly page volumes, the twin-engine CiPress 325 makes it easier to enter the burgeoning high-speed inkjet market. CiPress 325 offers fast, high-volume production at 325 feet per minute (fpm)/100 meters per minute. It prints at 600x600 dpi resolution so marketing materials, transpromo jobs, catalogs and manuals come off the press in crisp, vivid color.
Features and benefits of the CiPress 325 include:
• Upgradeable – Users can enhance the system from 325 fpm to 500 fpm through a software license, which increases productivity as page volume grows.
• Fast processing – Xerox’s FreeFlow® Print Server enhances productivity by handling complex variable jobs without sacrificing print speed. Users can configure their digital front engine to meet their job processing requirements.
• Sustainability – Xerox’s patented, granulated, resin-based ink formulation makes it simpler to deink prints for recycling. Xerox’s approach received the highest deinkability rating – “Good” – from INGEDE, a group of leading European paper manufacturers representing the International Association of the Deinking Industry.
Xerox’s high-speed inkjet technology will be on display at drupa 2012, May 3 -16, Dusseldorf, Germany.
Availability
The Xerox CiPress 500 is currently available worldwide. The Xerox CiPress 325 will be globally available in the second half of 2012.
