Epson Announces Middle East Launch Of Discproducer PP-50BD

Published May 31, 2012

Building on the success of its Discproducer range, Epson has revealed the Middle East launch of the Discproducer PP-50BD, an affordable Blu-ray model that gives users the ability to create up to 400 discs per month for archiving or publishing purposes. The device offers users a blend of quality and economy with its reliability and easy-to-operate features, which includes the creation of high quality (HQ) Blu-ray discs, CDs and DVDs at low cost.

Fully automated, the PP-50BD allows users to work on other tasks while simultaneously producing up to 50 discs and more than 2TB of data in one batch and can burn up to three single-layer Blu-ray discs in an hour. As Blu-ray is an inexpensive yet dependable format for long-term data storage, the PP-50BD is the perfect tool for archiving large files and backing up data.

The Epson PP-50BD delivers HQ photo-realistic printing on the CD/DVD/BD surface. Also, Epson’s Micro Piezo printhead and 6-colour inks produce ultra-fine colour gradations and razor-sharp text, even in very small font sizes. Depending on the printed image, one set of ink cartridges produces more than 1,000 fully-covered discs – and when a cartridge becomes empty, the PP-50BD automatically stops to avoid misprints.

Khalil El-Dalu, General Manager, Epson Middle East, said, "The release of the PP-50 BD reflects the growing popularity of our Discproducer line, which is now widely being used across various sectors, including medicine, education, entertainment and marketing, as well as the duplication industry. This dynamic new product offers great value for money with outstanding output quality and extremely low cost per gigabytes used. When using recommended single and double-layer BD-R media, the PP-50BD’s accurate disc burning means organizations in the Middle East can rely on the readability of their archived discs for decades.“

Allowing unsupervised production with less risk of failure, Epson has drawn on its expertise in manufacturing robots to develop the patented AcuGrip robotic arm, which makes certain that only one Blu-ray disc, CD or DVD is grabbed at a time – even if they are stuck together. The PP-50BD has a dust-proof body and minimal moving parts, thereby ensuring trouble-free operations for years to come.

The PP-50BD offers easy to use features like a front controlled panel and an LED indicator that shows the ink level status for each individual color. The unit also comes pre-loaded with the intuitive and user-friendly Total Disc Maker software combined with pre-defined templates and images--so users don't need to be experts in when drumming up the design for the discs.

Enabling convenient installation on a shelf or desktop, the fully-stackable PP-50BD has a compact footprint and measures only 38cm wide, making it one of the smallest disc publishers on the market.
