Dell Announces Top Tips for Selecting the Right Laptop for Families, New Graduates and Multimedia Fans in The Middle East This Summer

Published Jun 25, 2012

Whether a student heading off to university for the first time, a multi-media loving fan who enjoys an immersive entertainment experience, or a parent looking for a feature-packed solution for their family’s needs, Dell has the perfect laptop for every member of the family. Just in time for summer, a period which sees many families in the Arab world acquiring new technology, Dell has released a helpful primer of top tips to choose the laptop which best suits your family’s specific requirements:

Setting Students up for Success: Key considerations when buying a graduation present or new laptop for a student:

1. Design: Students want a light, stylish and ultraportable laptop that fits easily in a backpack, and colour is a great way to personalize any new device.

2. Performance: An active lifestyle means students need laptops which boot up quickly to capture class notes, and long battery life for extended use.

3. Connectivity: Increasing social network usage, online registration and the growing use of online services by schools including posting course materials and grades mean that students need to be constantly connected, and they therefore require laptops with dynamic connectivity options.

Entertaining Multimedia Fans: What to look for when choosing a high performance solution for creating, enjoying and accessing multimedia content such as favourite movies, music and photos
1. Multimedia capabilities: Advanced audio and immersive entertainment options such as studio-quality sound, and HD and 3D display enable movies, videos and other content to be experienced at a whole new level.

2. Extensive storage: In the Middle East, families on the move use their laptops as entertainment centres as well as storage for childhood photos and videos. Look for laptops with robust storage capacity – ideally up to two terabytes which stores more than two hundred feature-length films, or more than 400,000 songs and images.

3. Go wireless: To share photos with a large group, or screen movies for family and friends, look for laptops with wireless display (WiDi) technology, delivering connectivity options to the home theatre for ease of viewing.

Family Friendly: The array of laptops currently available in the region can be bewildering – these tips can help find the right fit for any family:
1. What will the laptop be used for: Define what the primary need for a laptop is – children’s homework, balancing the family budget, watching movies or video chatting with friends – as those uses can help determine how much computing power and connectivity are required. And a feature packed system needed be short of style, look for colour and design options.

2. Don’t pay for features that aren’t necessary: Each technology contained within a laptop is reflected in the final cost. By understanding how a family plans to use the new device, they can select the size of screen, performance level, and add-ons required and end up paying for just what they need.

3. Keep an eye out for bargains: In the Middle East, various shopping festivals as well as the Ramadan period can mean that retailers create special offers on technology products, so families can shop around for the laptop that best fits their needs.

With three types of Inspiron laptops – the Inspiron z for thin & powerful style on the go, the Inspiron R series for everyday family computing activities, and the Inspiron R Special Edition series for studio-quality multimedia and audio – parents and students can find the laptop best suited to them with Dell.
