Red Hat Hopes Scheme Will Be Catalyst For Growth

Red Hat officials have confirmed that the company’s Catalyst Programme has also gone live in the Middle East after being launched in North America earlier this week.
The open source specialist says the scheme is designed to optimise its routes to market through a collaborative and innovative marketing programme that will create a community around its entire partner ecosystem.
Red Hat claims it has a fast growing community of partners, resellers, system integrators, hardware vendors and ISVs that are collaborating to bring a full open source solution set to customers. The Catalyst Programme aims to formalise this process.
The programme in the Middle East is understood to mirror the version rolled out globally, with the exception of a virtualisation component.
“There is no doubt that partners with an open source business practice are positioning themselves to take advantage of this market opportunity,” said Roger Egan, the company’s channel chief in the US.
“The Catalyst programme is designed to help our entire ecosystem leverage this business opportunity and deliver greater value to customers through solutions built on Red Hat technologies”.
Red Hat intends to build up the programme so that it eventually includes a social networking and collaborative web portal to facilitate discussion on solutions developed by partners.
