Innovators Receive Training in Technology Commercialization at EHBP

A total of fourteen innovators and technology transfer practitioners participated in a training program organized by El Hassan Business Park (EHBP) and presented by representatives from the IC2 Institute at The University of Texas at Austin on the commercialization of technology-based innovations.
Impressed by the ideas presented by the Jordanian innovators and the professionalism of the technology transfer practitioners at EHBP, Michael G. Breck and Donna Kidwell, the trainers from The University of Texas, expressed their willingness to follow up soon with larger-scale activities to build upon the skills learned and fuel the momentum instigated by the program.
The 10-module IC2 series addresses the key challenges in commercialization, to help innovators determine if they are ready to market their inventions and identify the critical steps in the process of commercialization. At the end of the program, participants were prepared to pitch their innovations in compelling and persuasive ways to potential customers, partners and investors.
“I found the online program which was organized by IC2 institute/Texas University-Austin and EHBP, very useful. It helped me to understand the commercialization process for my innovation. The course showed me the effective ways to recognize the commercialization potential of my patent, which is about the utilization of food industry wastes for the production of biofuels,” said Mohammad Abd Elqader, a professor in the Environment Management Department at Princess Sumaya University for Technology.
In his comment, Dr. Jamil Haddad, a researcher at the Royal Scientific Society, said, “Participating in the program provided by IC2 helped me to understand my own invention in a better a way. Now I feel capable of explaining the commercial aspects of my invention to anyone who is not a specialist in the technical field. Also, having local technology transfer practitioners from EHBP as partners in the program added a lot to its effectiveness and accessibility.”
For his part, EHBP’s CEO, Omar Hamarneh, noted that such trainings are critical to the mission of EHBP, saying, “Through such trainings, the Business Park has significantly expanded its capacity to serve researchers and developers at El Hassan Science City and throughout Jordan with technology and innovation commercialization-related issues.”
A large number of university professors, students and engineers from several research and academic institutions including the Royal Scientific Society, Jordan University for Science and Technology, Tafila Technical University, and Princess Sumaya University for Technology took part in the program and received Certificates of Completion from The IC2 Institute at The University of Texas at Austin and El Hassan Business Park.
