Published Jul 18, 2012

Solidifying its position within the camera segment, BenQ, internationally-renowned provider of digital lifestyle innovations, has seen an increase in retail penetration for its bridge-type cameras across GCC countries particularly in the UAE.

The company also experienced an increase in demand for the GH600 and GH700 cameras, BenQ’s first bridge-type cameras in the region. These cameras combine the advantages of point-and-shoot cameras with features of DSLR-like imaging effects.

“We have launched the GH series to the Middle East market in the first quarter of 2012 and since then, we have seen a strong demand for the GH600 and GH700 cameras. Through these cameras, we aim to bolster our market share in the bridge-type camera segment across the GCC region by end of this year,” Manish Bakshi, Managing Director of BenQ for the Middle East and Africa said.

“We are also targeting to enlarge our reach as well as expand penetration for the GH600 GH700 cameras in new markets in the coming months,” he added. “BenQ focuses on improving its products by investing on its Research & Development and we are optimistic that we will see better growth roadmap in the camera category in the coming years. New models with better optical zoom and enhanced features for the GH series are also in the pipeline.”

The GH600 comes with a 16-megapixel CCD sensor while GH700 has 18-megapixel including a 3-inch 460K LCD display and a wide selection of shooting modes.

Both cameras feature HDR image enhancement technology which automatically adjusts luminance and contrast under the highest contrast lighting conditions. Meanwhile, the GH700 boasts of three cutting-edge features such as high performance optical zoom lens, BSI CMOS sensor and a high-speed digital signal processor (DSP).

The GH600 also shoots HD720p videos at 30 frames per second, while the GH700 can capture 60 frames per second in 1080p Full HD resolution.
