Web Site from the Internews Center for Innovation & Learning Captures Best Practices in New Media and Technology

The Internews Center for Innovation & Learning is excited to announce the official launch of its web site: www.innovation.internews.org. The web site is a resource for media, technology, and development practitioners seeking to push the boundaries of innovation.

The web site has been configured to share projects, initiatives, research, and tools, with special focus on the use of social media and internet and communications technologies for development (ICT4D). The content is produced by regional innovation advisors who specialize in local media and ICTs in dozens of countries around the world, working together with Internews teams on the ground to produce collective knowledge and information, and as well as guidance for current and developing field initiatives.
Structured to help users find and use information through a variety of channels, the site’s information is aggregated and organized by an expanding list of topics, which are updated monthly by the innovation advisors.
As an information resource, the website provides:
> Blogs – investigating projects, trends and technologies
> Tools – profiling ICT and new media tools, including key features, uses, and resource considerations, such as time commitment and cost
> Pilots – reporting on several 2011 pilot projects from the Internews Center for Innovation & Learning, with 2012 pilots to come
> Research – providing summaries and full research reports on innovation projects, best practices, and lessons learned
> Initiatives – highlighting major projects such as the CrowdGlobe project, which tracks deployment and research on crowdsourcing mapping systems
The Internews Center for Innovation & Learning strives to stay fluid and react quickly to produce the most effective and useful products. Media development and ICT4D practitioners are encouraged to participate in the fine-tuning of the site by providing feedback and comments.
