Kamel Authority To Deter Mobile Phone Companies

Dr. Tarek Kamel, Minister of Communications and Information Technology: the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority unable to control the mobile communications market in Egypt in terms of deals that are detrimental to the market.

He noted that the company has until the end of Ramadan to stop any practices that have less communication prices on the cost price of the monopoly and the interests at the expense of other parties.

The minister expected soon on the application of controls on any violation of the company through several mechanisms, including the identification numbers of the company contrary, it may not benefit a particular offering that company to increase its subscribers to account for the entire market.

This came in statements to the minister on the sidelines of the signing of a cooperation agreement today at the Smart Village between Telecom Egypt and Vodafone Egypt, aims to use Vodafone Egypt, the gate of the International Telecom Egypt to provide international telecommunication services and the exploitation of the infrastructure for its customer service in Egypt at the highest level.

Dr. Tarek Kamel, Minister of Communications and Information Technology in his remarks that the coming years will not be easy on the cell phone companies because the natural growth that generates a kind of saturation after the number of mobile subscribers in Egypt 50 million subscribers.

He added that there will be phenomena of low numbers of mobile subscribers as happened recently with Telecom Egypt and the number of subscribers nearly a million and a half, according to data last July and announced by full transparency and to stop the credit facilities that had accumulated over many years, and not because of any failure resulting to this decline.

He stressed that the basis for competition in the coming period will be the Aalghemip added, content and technologies that allow expansion, as well as alliances between the companies promoted by the minister in the Egyptian market in the coming period.

He praised Dr. Tarek Kamel, Egypt's popular communications bundled offers and new services in the coming period to serve the participants to take advantage of its strong fundamentals, which encouraged its use also in partnerships with mobile operators, pointing out that the relationship between Telecom Egypt and the cell phone companies to compete not only integration but also through the use of infrastructure and a gateway for international communications and value added services.

The minister ruled out taking at the moment to put the second license for fixed line view of the circumstances of the crisis by the scientific as well as the circumstances of the telecommunications sector in the world.
