Autodesk Sponsors Qatar BIM Summit and Supports Adoption of Intelligent 3D Design Processes for Qatar’s Building Projects

Published Sep 4, 2012

Autodesk, a leader in 3D design and engineering software, has demonstrated its commitment to customers leading Qatar’s major construction works by becoming a Gold Sponsor of the IQPC Building Information Modeling (BIM) Summit in Qatar. BIM is an intelligent, model-based process that provides insight for creating and managing building and infrastructure projects faster, more economically and with less environmental impact.

The summit, which will take place on 24 – 25 September 2012 at the Oryx Rotana Hotel, Doha, has been organised in collaboration with buildingSMART. It will be a forum for developers, contractors and consultants to discuss the increasing take-up of BIM throughout the world and how the expertise and experience drawn from this can benefit Qatar as it embarks on major construction projects.

Among the expert keynote speakers at the summit will be Phil Bernstein, vice president of Industry Strategy and Relations at Autodesk, where he is responsible for the company’s future vision and strategy for technology serving the building industry. Alongside his role at Autodesk, Bernstein is a renowned BIM champion and also teaches Professional Practice at Yale University.

Says Louay Dahmash, Territory Director - Autodesk Middle East: “Qatar is emerging as a premier business and investment destination and, consequently, experiencing a rush of major new construction projects. Autodesk is committed to helping its customers design and build these projects as effectively and efficiently as possible to ensure Qatar’s built environment becomes a beacon of high quality, sustainable design.”

Autodesk BIM software includes a comprehensive portfolio of solutions for design, visualisation, simulation and collaboration that use the information in the intelligent model to inform decision-making throughout the design and build process, enabling projects to be completed on time, on budget and with fewer errors.
