Lenovo’s Think Ahead Event Provides Smbs With Glimpse Into Future Technology

Published Sep 12, 2012

Lenovo held its first ever Think Ahead event at the Armani Hotel in Burj Khalifa last week. The exclusive event hosted by Lenovo and Microsoft executives showcased the purpose-built technology and solutions available for the SMB market in the region. The event’s main highlight was the launch of Lenovo’s award-winning S230u Ultrabook convertible and the introduction of the Lenovo Solutions for Small Business (LSSB) application in the region. Over 80 business partners from across the Middle East, Levant and North Africa attended the Think Ahead event to engage with industry peers on the latest trends shaping global technology

“Our innovative ThinkPad range is the preferred choice for enterprise use around the world and as part of our global strategy we are actively seeking to highlight its benefits to the SMB market. With events like Think Ahead we can showcase our solutions and demonstrate how cost-effective they are for SMBs in this region,” said Jack Lee, corporate VP of Lenovo Group and general manager of Lenovo Middle East and Africa, who was the keynote speaker at the event. “Products like the ThinkPad Edge S230u, coupled with solutions like LSSB to help set up and maintenance, provide SMB users with the mobility their work style demands without compromising on the security that the ThinkPad range offers.”

The event provided an overview of the ThinkPad Edge series for the SMB market led by Luis Hernandez, VP of Lenovo’s Edge Business Unit, and an outline of the history of the classic ThinkPad line-up by Julian Pienaar, Technical Solutions Advocate, Lenovo. Clara Hansen, OEM Partner Account Manager, Microsoft Gulf provided an overview of the Windows 8 platform that is due to be launched in October.

Lenovo’s S230u Ultrabook convertible features a rotating screen; 10-point multi-touch technology and the patented Lenovo lock mechanism, which enables four different use modes in one device. The four modes offer SMB users the option of operating the device as a laptop, tablet, stand or tent, depending on the requirements of the working environment. Preloaded with LSSB technology, the S230u is a reliable and secure device with an Active Protection System that protects the hard drive by locking it during sudden movement in the event of a crash.

Lenovo’s Solutions for Small Business, built on the Intel Small Business Advantage application, provides small businesses with a comprehensive suite of security, maintenance and productivity features that enable business owners to take more control of their IT network. The management features available with LSSB include after-hours maintenance, software monitoring, USB blocker, and links to back up as well as restore applications. With LSSB, business owners can reduce reliance on external IT support for greater productivity and lower expenditure on system maintenance.
