Talented Recruits Join SAP Young Professionals Program

Published Sep 18, 2012

SAP, the world’s largest business software company, has underlined its dedication to up-skilling Egyptian youth and creating employment in the country’s burgeoning IT sector by recruiting 20 talented students and young professionals to its ambitious MENA Field Services- Young Professionals Program (YPP).
The newrecruits were welcomed to the two-year program at SAP’s offices in Cairo following an intensive selection process that entailed seeing off stiff competition from over 300 applications nominated by Egypt’s top universities and employers, as well as undergoing a series of interviews and multifaceted aptitude tests.

SAP’s push to create jobs is set to be welcomed across the country, with unemployment currently hovering around the 12 per cent mark according to the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS). The figure rises to 25 per cent for young adults.

The YPP program is set to provide students with hands-on training in cutting-edge SAP solutions, including Enterprise Resource Planning, Mobility, and the trailblazingin-memory computing capabilities of HANA.

They will also gain extensive project experience with SAP partners and customers in order to gain invaluable skills and experience with multi-industry appeal.

“It is an honour to be accepted to SAP’s YPP,” said Egyptian student Mohammed Atta.

“Learning from such a respected and influential company is a wonderful opportunity to develop skills and attributes that will truly set me apart in the job market. I have big ambitions for the future, and this is exactly the progressive platform I need to help make them a reality.”

The overarching aim of the YPP is to create a pool of technologically articulate consultants with a strong cultural and social understandingof regional idiosyncrasies, a key requirement for SAP as it seeks to ramp up the localization process of its solutions as a part of an ambitious four-year additional investment plan to up-skill local talent and drive sustainable innovation and growth in MENA.

“We are delighted to welcome these talented graduates and young professionals to the YPP Program,” said AmrGhoneim, Managing Director – North Africa & Levant, SAP MENA.

“This is the start of an exciting journey where they acquire skills and knowledge that will last a lifetime, and hopefully help us to markedly enhance our services and overall ecosystem. From our own business perspective, there is no doubt that in order to flourish, evolve and make the best possible impact in Egypt, we need to focus on building capacity among its talented youngsters. Ultimately, these are people that will not only fuel every aspect of our company - from services and ecosystem capacity to profitability and continued innovation – but they also have the potential make their own country run in a better, more sustainable manner.”
