First 3 Days of iPhone 5 Sales Match 4S First Month Figures

Published Sep 24, 2012

According to data from ComScore, the first three days of iPhone 5 pre-orders equalled the earlier Apple record set by the iPhone 4S over the course of a month. The marketing data and analytics provider said the surge in demand on Apple's latest handset was because there "are more people in the market for a smartphone than ever before." The report follows a note by financial services firm, Piper Jaffray, which found that 83% of iPhone 5 buyers were upgrading from a previous version of the iPhone, compared with 73% for the 4S and 77% for the 4.
