Taihan To Display The Latest Breakthroughs In Fiber Optic Technology During ITU World

Published Oct 4, 2012

Taihan, one of South Korea’s leading manufacturers of copper and fiber optic cabling, will be promoting a variety of fiber optic cabling technologies at this year’s ITU World. With a portfolio spanning copper cabling, single and multi mode fibers, fiber optic cables and optical phase ground wires, Taihan is aiming to establish itself as a leading provider of fiber optic solutions to Middle East-based telecommunications providers.

During the five days of ITU World Taihan will be demonstrating its range of copper cabling, from Cat 3 to Cat 6 and Cat 6A categories to support ethernet speeds of up to 10 gigabits. Also on show will be Taihan’s zero water peak full spectrums Anywave fiber which offers more usable bandwidth with low, stable low-performance over time and yet is fully compatible with existing legacy fiber optic plants. “The telecommunications industry has been rapidly shifting from traditional single-mode fibers to new “full spectrum” single-mode fibers that meet the International Telecommunications Union specifications,” said Sun Ho, regional manager, Taihan. “Our Anywave solution is designed to increase the usable wavelength and expand a customer’s bandwidth capabilities to allow for a greater data throughput over the network.”

For wide-area metropolitan networks Taihan will be showcasing its optical phase ground wire (OPGW). Designed to be placed on electrical transmission lines, optical phase ground wire can replace traditional static wiring on overhead transmission lines whilst also containing optical fibers which can be used for telecommunications purposes.

“Optical phase ground wire typically is much cheaper and much quicker to install than a buried cable. The fiber optic cabling is protected from accidental contact by the high voltage cables below and there’s no need to strengthen the towers supporting the line. For a telecommunications provider that is looking to install a high-speed fiber optic network across long distances and in urban environments it’s the ideal solution,” said Sun Ho.

“We’ve also seen an increase in the number of fiber or FTTx projects due to increasing consumer and business demand for higher broadband speeds. As Taihan we provide the various types of fiber optic cabling involved such as loose tube, direct buried, duct, indoor and aerial. To date our company has provided fiber solutions to thirty countries across five continents.”

Taihan will be at the five day event in Dubai's World Trade Center between the 14 and 18 October to meet with telecommunications providers and contractors who specialize in cabling projects as well as potential distributors and resellers.
