Summit Aims To Encourage Enterprises And Governments To Be Tech Intensive And ICT Empowered

Published Oct 10, 2012

Globally, information and communication technology (ICT) has proven to be a driving force and an enabler for socio-economic development. In order to facilitate successful ICT policies and strategically plan for further development in West Africa, enterprises and governments are now being encouraged to fully understand and implement successful ICT deployment along with exploring the potential benefits for these organisations within the region. The summit is designed to review the level of ICT deployment and exploitations within the public and private sector in West Africa, targeting Governments as well as a number of public and private sector organisations, in efforts to identity, understand and strategise ICT for the industry.

Summit producer Kinetic Events urges governments, ICT industry executives and senior decision makers to attend this year’s event. According to the summit organiser, governments must move forward in encouraging the intense use of technology to promote development and economic growth within the region.

The summit comes at a critical stage within the growth process of the ICT industry in West Africa as the technology drive is promising both government and businesses to reap the benefits from the technology movement, transforming the economy in West Africa and improving the lives of the people living in the region.

Information technology enabled services-business process outsourcing (ITES-BPO) has been highlighted as a priority sector, believed to assist in driving economic growth in Ghana. Telecommunication and information technology solution providers have increased development, located within Ghana’s capital city, Accra. These enterprises not only bring a once exclusive industry to the region, but also safe employment, exposure to the digital new world, and increased revenue to the country.

The summit will provide an invaluable opportunity for the ICT industry to catch up to technological developments and advancements, enabling them to fast surpass the stages of introduction and inception through aligning business with technology, and demonstrating the value of IT organisation to the enterprise.

In a recent report issued, economic development suggests that GDP growth in a country is closely related to the development of infrastructure within that region; suggesting an increase in public mobile penetration leading to an increase in GDP in a typical developing economy.

The summit will act as a driver in directing the industry sector into success as industry leaders and heads of IT converge in Ghana’s capital city, Accra to discuss and address today's top ICT and operations issues, and technological advancements impacting the enterprise with strategic guidance and actionable tactics.

The IT Leaders West Africa Summit is bringing together the greatest players, both local and international, across the IT industry in West Africa to network and discuss business with this year’s theme of driving the business forward through innovation. The summit provides a unique and exclusive business-to-business platform for IT executives and industry leaders to share experiences, network among peers and engage in interactive discussions with fellow senior executives, government officials, senior decision makers and international industry guest speakers.
