Gemalto, the world leader in digital security, will showcase its award-winning eGo™ solution for the first time in the Middle East at Gitex Technology Week (Hall 2, booth F2-15). This new technology can revolutionize the way a wide range of digital services are accessed and enjoyed, providing secure user authentication with nothing more than a single touch.
Consisting of embedded software fitted inside a wearable object such as a belt or watch, eGo can store the user’s credentials and access rights for a wide range of services, including mobile subscriptions and transportation e-tickets. Acting like a multi-service enabler containing numerous applications, after user authentication, the wearable eGo device communicates with eGo-compliant objects via a single touch. Credentials are passed on securely, and the desired electronic transaction completed seamlessly.
Highlighting the benefits eGo can bring, Romina Stroeymeyte, Business Innovation Director at Gemalto, said: “Imagine being able to unlock your front door simply by touching the handle, validating your transport e-ticket just by hopping on the bus, or borrowing your friend’s mobile phone and making – a call from your own account merely by holding it in your hand!” She added: “eGo compliant objects will recognize your credentials at a touch. Nothing can be more natural and simple as a way to interact, and it will simplify the user experience when accessing a host of digital services.”
The eGo solution offers exceptional convenience without compromising on security. It includes an initial identity verification process and remains under full control of its holder. All eGo transactions are secured by the highest standards in encryption technology and the privacy of user information is always protected.
Romina Stroeymeyte added: “This new technology is a true reflection of Gemalto’s differentiated innovation leadership and demonstrates our capacity to bring cutting-edge ideas to reality. With over €150 million invested in R&D in 2011, and a team of 1500 digital scientists, we are committed to best-in-class research that will bring benefits to our customers and end-users alike as the world becomes increasingly digital and wireless.”
eGo was named Best IT Security Application in the Sesames Awards at the Cartes & Identification Show, a key digital security conference held in Paris, France.
