Etisalat Provides e-hosting Solutions for Sharjah Islamic Bank’s Data Center

Etisalat, leader of ICT solutions in the region, has teamed up with Sharjah Islamic Bank to provide electronic hosting solutions for the bank’s secondary data center at Etisalat’s Data Center in Jebel Ali. The Data Center enjoys an advanced infrastructure and a high continuity, reliable and safe environment.

The agreement signed during Gitex Technology Week- 2012 will enable Sharjah Islamic Bank to guard its secondary data center from any possible disaster that can disrupt the bank’s day-to-day activities and prevent the bank from providing routine services to customers.

The signing ceremony was attended by Abdullah Ibrahim Al Ahmed, Senior Vice President for Business Solutions; Sharjah Islamic Bank was represented by Ahmed Saad, the bank’s Deputy Chief Executive Officer.

Commenting on the agreement, Abdullah Ibrahim Al Ahmed said, “We are excited about partnering with the Sharjah Islamic Bank. This agreement clearly demonstrates the Bank’s objective of protecting its data center to ensure uninterrupted and smooth business dealings with the public, mainly customers. At a time when telecommunications and ICT are witnessing fast-paced advancements, businesses are forced to stay ahead of these developments to maintain their high-tech service standards. In order to support several sectors, Etisalat constantly works on collaborating with companies in the UAE, whether public or private, to provide them with the required technical support and expertise.”

Ahmed Saad commented: “Etisalat has achieved a leading stature in the ICT sector making it one of the most important ICT solutions providers in the UAE and region. This stature has urged Sharjah Islamic Bank to sign this agreement, whereby Etisalat will host the Bank’s secondary Data Center, through which we aim to protect the Bank’s data from any major disruption that can lead to the disruption of the Bank’s usual services and business processes.”

Moreover, Saad noted: “Sharjah Islamic Bank and Etisalat enjoy a strong relationship as the bank provides Etisalat’s clients with many services including bill payment through its various payment methods. Sharjah Islamic Bank will surely continuously look for cooperation chances with Etisalat in the future. This is in the aim of improving the Bank’s different client services through adopting Etisalat’s technological innovations. In addition, the Bank has state-of-the-art technologies at main and secondary data centers to ensure continuity of the services to the customers. The Bank will continue to invest in technologies to offer best in class services to the customers”.

Etisalat’s Data Center in Jebel Ali enjoys many features with a 40,000 square meters complex and a 8,083 square meters data center building. The data center also contains four bays units and each bays unit contains 360 racks.

Etisalat’s Data Center is considered a primary business unit containing 9 data centers designed according to high standards (Tier 3). Highly qualified teams supervise the services provided in these data centers on a 24-hour basis. These data centers are connected to a high speed fiber optics network which is extended throughout the whole of the UAE.
