Canon Middle East, world-leader in imaging solutions, has launched the imageFORMULA Flatbed Scanner Unit 201 for versatile and high-speed A3 document capture. It extends the capability of Canon’s high-performance imageFORMULA scanners by allowing users to optionally add the Flatbed Scanner Unit 201 to scan bound documents such as large books, journals and magazines.
The new flatbed scanner offers greater flexibility for organisations needing to digitise a wider-range of mixed document types that cannot normally be scanned using an automatic document feeder (ADF). It is designed as a flatbed accessory to work in tandem with Canon’s imageFORMULA scanners1 - allowing users to conveniently capture sets of images from both the A3 flatbed and an ADF scanner in a single operation.
Hendrik Verbrugghe, Marketing Director, Canon Middle East, comments, “Businesses need a simple and convenient way to digitise a wide variety of office documents; we are increasingly seeing a need to capture bound documents such as magazines, books or legal journals. Combining the new Flatbed Scanner Unit 201 with a high-performance Canon imageFORMULA scanner enables customers to seamlessly capture both standard and non-standard documents into a single file. In this way, users can work faster with a variety of documents and distribute or archive the scanned images with ease.”
The imageFORMULA Flatbed Scanner Unit 201 scans a full A3 document in only 3.5 seconds2 and inherits a range of advanced high-quality image processing features offered by the connected imageFORMULA DR-series scanners such as Deskew, Auto Size Detection and MultiStream, helping users to consistently maintain high quality scans every time.
“Organisations don’t need to compromise on image quality when scanning with the lid open,” continues Verbrugghe. “As the imageFORMULA Flatbed Scanner Unit 201 is equipped with Canon’s unique Ambient Light Cancelling Mode, which reduces the effect that could be caused by any external light, it ensures high-quality images are produced even when the scanner lid is open. This feature can help users to save a substantial amount of time, especially when larger volumes need to be scanned at speed.”
In addition, the new device is surprisingly compact for an A3 flatbed scanner3, meaning it can easily be placed within any scanning station where space is limited.
1 The device requires a USB connection to either of the following Canon imageFORMULA devices: DR-M160, DR-6030C, DR-6050C, DR-7550C, DR-9050C or DR-X10C
