Published Nov 5, 2012

Axiom Telecom underlined its reputation as the Middle East’s premier tablet destinationyesterday by becoming the first retailer in the regionto sell the iPad Mini.

Crowds flocked to stores in Dubai just 48 hours after Apple’s global launch to get their hands on a scaled-down version of the iconic tablet, which is pitched at the mid-market and those requiring greater portability.

Weighing in at a mere 308g, the iPad Mini is just 0.28-inch thick – the width of a pencil – and 23% thinner than the regular iPad.

The iPad Mini comes with a 7.9-inch screen with 1,024-by-768 pixel resolution and 163-pixels-per-inch density.

Other features include two HD cameras; the front is 1.2 megapixels while the back camera is 5 megapixels -- the same as on the fourth-generation iPad.

Axiom Telecom is currently selling the 16GB WiFiiPad Mini for AED 1,799, and is also offering a part exchange service for customers wanting to trade in their old tablets.

“Axiom Telecom is delighted to once again beat the competition by debuting must-have devices in the region,” said Faisal Al Bannai, CEO, Axiom Telecom.

“The iPad Mini is an exciting addition to the tablet market and we are looking forward to introducing it to as many people as possible, as well as providing all the unrivaled value-added customer support that comes with every single Axiom Telecom purchase.”

This year, Axiom Telecom has continually reaffirmed itsposition as the retailer of choice for those seeking the latest cutting-edge tech devices in the region.

Notable launches ahead of its competitorsinclude the Google Nexus 7 tablet and the Samsung Galaxy S3.

With 2,000 employees, Axiom Telecom is the Middle East’s largest mobile retailer, currently boasting a portfolio of 575 retail points and reaches over 3,742 points of sale across the region.

In addition to a growing reputation for its rapid launches, Axiom Telecom stands out for a host of customer service innovations such as a 60-second data transfer, 1 hour express repair, a pick-up and delivery service for repairs, stand-by phones during the repair period, and a 2-year warranty on select brands.
