Intel Egypt Wraps Up 2012 And Unveiles New Devices In 2013

Intel Egypt, the world leader in silicon innovation, ends 2012 with new and exciting announcements at a press conference held today wrapping up the company’s different milestones and achievements as well as giving a future-forward look into 2013.
“We are highly focused on and committed to the Egyptian market,” commented Eng. Karim El Fateh, Country Manager Intel Egypt. “We are proud to wrap up 2012 with unprecedented achievements not only on the technology front but also in supporting the adoption of 21st century skills in education, innovation, and entrepreneurship through Intel’s ongoing ‘Egypt Tomorrow’ initiative. This only stands as proof to the rising potential that Egypt poses in terms of talent and acceptance of new and ground-breaking technologies.”
On the technology front and amongst its ever growing product portfolio, 2012 marked the launch of Intel’s Ultrabook™ in Egypt, which created a whole new category of smart mobile devices that are designed to give people the power to create and consume in a sleek, light, secure and elegant device that offers an immersive and responsive experience without compromising performance. In addition, Intel also launched its 3rd Generation Core™ Processors, the Intel® Xeon Phi™ coprocessor, and the Intel® Atom™ processor S1200 providing faster, easier and ‘always connected’ Intel powered devices.
Intel Egypt also concluded the year with remarkable technologies that support education, innovation and entrepreneurship through the company’s ongoing programs including the:
- 500,000 teachers trained through the Intel® teach program, which aims at educating teachers to use and utilize technology in the classroom.
- 8,000 Intel® Classmate PC deployment project conclusion. This year Intel has wrapped up the project by reaching to more than 300 schools across different governorates.
- 150,000 students trained through the Intel® Learn Program, which aims at educating students on how to use technology in the classroom.
- Intel® Strategic broadband experience, which entailed a knowledge transfer and sharing workshop with the National Telecom Regulatory Authority through which insights and experience in broadband implementations around the world and how it can come to realization in upcoming National Broadband implementation plans in Egypt and for the realization of the “eMisr National Broadband Plan”.
- Intel® S/W incubators deployment, a program that aimed at enhancing and educating graduating students to reformulate their graduation projects to further help and look towards a better Egypt.
- Intel® Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) this year a total of 97 projects were presented in the Cairo fair, representing 145 students, while the Alexandria fair reviewed 80 projects in total, representing a total of 120 students.
- Intel® Science Competition – Arab World, which aims to encourage intermediate and secondary level students aged 14-18 to gain interest in scientific research and execute scientific and research projects. 10 Egyptian students are participating this year by presenting 8 finest science projects.
- Fekrety Business Idea Competition with the American University in Cairo, which encourages emerging entrepreneurs and rewards ideas that have potential to become a new business or even a new industry.
- Ibtiecar Research Program with TIEC, which aims of driving innovation and entrepreneurship in information and communications technology sector for the benefit of national economy.
Outlook for 2013:
With “screenification” rapidly making its way into the technology sector and Intel, conducted research showing that users feel more empowered and in control when using touch screens, Intel will continue to introduce new ranges of “smart” and “always connected” devices that strengthen the mobile user experience. Next year, Intel Egypt will introduce a range of new devices including Smartphones and Tablets with advanced Intel® processors enable for fast web browsing, super-responsive apps, and effortless multi-tasking so that enjoying the things you love to do has never been easier.
Intel continues its commitment to the development of the Egyptian market through its “Egypt Tomorrow” initiative tackling how ICT can help in the development of Egypt in the different sectors of education, innovation and entrepreneurship, healthcare and infrastructure as well as how IT will play a central and defining role in Egypt’s economic and political future.
