The model was unveiled worldwide by the company three months ago in June, boasting a host camera specials including a 28mm wide angle lens and a Smart Auto function that lets the camera select the right mode based on the object, background and lighting available.
Another feature known as Touch Auto Focus (AF) tracking lets users select focus points with the touch of a finger, which are then used to make sure the subject remains in focus even while moving.
"The Pixon12 is testament to how Samsung's ongoing consumer research enables us to develop ground breaking products that do not just meet but surpass our customers' expectations. Speedy access to the camera mode, fast shutter speed and quick browsing are some of the key factors consumers are looking for in their mobile phone cameras", said Sandeep Saihgal, general manager of mobile phones at Samsung Gulf Electronics.
"We are very pleased to introduce the world's first 12-megapixel camera phone that holds the answer to these pressing consumer needs," Saighal added.
The multimedia centric phone also comes with a full 3.1 inch touchscreen, WiFi connectivity and a MicroSD slot for expandable memory.
