Mott MacDonald Appoints David Tanner as Director of Technology Strategy and Design

Published Feb 6, 2013

Mott MacDonald has named David Tanner as director of technology strategy and design. He will be responsible for identifying relevant market opportunities and leading the team as it continues to grow. David rejoins the consultancy after previously acting as a principal consultant from 2008-10.

David is an experienced management consultant with nearly twenty years technical and management experience in the telecommunications arena. He provides strategic, technical and operational advice to diverse players, from new entrants to major businesses, across the telecoms industry through his vast knowledge of various fixed and mobile telecommunications technologies, particularly personal mobile radiocommunications. He returns to Mott MacDonald after a spell as lead consultant at InterConnect Communications, where he focused on network and infrastructure sharing. He worked with financial institutions on the business cases behind this market and helped develop strategies on how they can assist the development of mobile communications networks. David has also worked at Analysys Mason as a lead consultant, where he worked on a wide range of technical and operational strategy projects in the wireless communications space.

Commenting on his appointment, David said: “Our technology and communications team has vast expertise and experience in the technologies behind communications and IT networks. Technology strategy and design is at the centre of our various service offerings across different industry sectors, which is one of the key things that sets us apart from other consultancies. I am looking forward to supporting our work and taking this message out to future and potential clients.”

Andy Doyle, manager of Mott MacDonald’s technology and communications division, added: “There are many opportunities out there for Mott MacDonald in growing areas such as digital infrastructure, smart utilities and critical communications, as well as ICT-intensive construction projects like airports and community developments. I’m delighted that David has rejoined the team and I’m sure he will drive us on to exciting opportunities in the near future.”
