Mobily Signs M2M Deal with Jasper Wireless

Published Feb 25, 2013

Saudi Arabian telecom operator, Mobily, has hired US company Jasper Wireless to help it deploy M2M services in Saudi Arabia.

Jasper Wireless's M2M platform is a cloud-based solution that will enable Mobily to connect devices across its network. Jasper Wireless will provide Mobily with the necessary applications and services to connect and manage a range of embedded wireless devices across various verticals including automotive, telematics and infotainment, consumer electronics, smart metering and building automation.

"Mobily is a rapidly growing mobile operator in the MENA region with impressive market share and the opportunity for it to capitalise on industry demand for M2M communications is ripe, particularly in the automotive vertical," said Cindy Patterson, chief revenue office, Jasper Wireless.

"Automotive OEMs are crystalising their connected vehicle strategies in 2013 and will be seeking the mobile operator partner that can serve and enhance their distribution with a connected devices platform that easily scales. The partnership provides Mobily with the necessary applications and services to accelerate its offerings profitably into existing and emerging connected devices market sectors."

Dr Marwan Al Ahmadi, chief business officer at Mobily, added that Jasper Wireless's cloud-based model would enable the telco to accelerate the deployment of M2M services. "[The platform] will give us full visibility and intelligent control of how devices are connecting to and using the network," he said. "Through automating operational processes, the Jasper platform will enable us to streamline activities, reduce total cost of ownership and provide excellent customer support."

Mobily joins a growing list of other Jasper Wireless operator partners including AT&T, América Móvil, NTT DOCOMO, Telefónica, VimpelCom, KPN, SingTel, Etisalat, Telstra, Rogers, and CSL.
