UAE’s HR Sector Set for New Era of Efficiency

Published Jul 9, 2013

SAP launched a pioneering solution specifically designed to help the UAE cope with the increasingly complex HR challenges posed by rapid, era-defining growth.

Fully localised and compatible with the country’s labour laws and common practices, SAP HR Core Functions for United Arab Emirates rapid-deployment solution, is set to be a game-changer across the region.

The launch is a bold reaffirmation of SAP’s intent to adapt to local market conditions in order to help decision-makers deliver immediate operational enhancements.

SAP HR Core Functions for United Arab Emirates rapid-deployment solution ensures unprecedented speed and accuracy in dealing with issues like overtime calculation, end of service benefits, annual leave entitlement and annual leave tickets. The solution also encompasses employee and employer social insurance contributions for Emiratis and GCC nationals.

Other key features include alignment with UAE public holidays and common practices for payroll and accruals processing. With a defined scope and pre-determined cost, SAP’s rapid-deployment solutions are usually up and running in less than 12 weeks.

“By being fully localized and compatible with the UAE’s labour laws, SAP HR Core Functions for United Arab Emirates rapid-deployment solution will give organizations in UAE the means to unlock the power of their human resources. This includes overcoming many of the challenges that exist in local HR sector, such as the continuous evolution of policies and practices,” said Ibrahim Ahmed Elbadawi, Government Innovation Advisor and Co-Founder of GovArabia, which focuses on transformation and innovation through technology across the Arab world.

“In addition, the rapid-deployment solution feature can significantly increase the chance of successfully implementing the solution in time and within budget, which is a common ERP challenge. As a result, it should offer a higher return on investment. Technology should be an enabler, not a barrier or a challenge. SAP HR Core Functions for United Arab Emirates rapid-deployment solution will help executives and HR directors worry less about the technology and focus more on managing and developing their human resources.”

The result of intensive, multifaceted collaboration between global and local SAP teams, as well as local experts, SAP HR Core Functions for United Arab Emirates rapid-deployment solution automates and dramatically improves the efficiency of key HR functions such as personnel administration, organizational management, time management and payroll administration. It is built on the SAP localized payroll solution for UAE private sector, and follows on from the successful recent launch of a similar product in China.

SAP HR Core Functions for United Arab Emirates rapid-deployment solution is the first of several localised rapid-deployment solutions to be built and launched for MENA region. SAP HR Core Functions for Kingdom of Saudi Arabia rapid-deployment solution will be released in few weeks.

The UAE version is timely, following hot on the heels of the Dubai eGovernment Department (DeG) announcing its readiness to transform into a “smart government” in line with the initiative of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and its commitment to the instructions of H. H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince and Chairman of the Executive Council.

Modular and pre-integrated across SAP’s broad portfolio of solutions, rapid-deployment solutions are proving immensely popular due to their ability to minimise outlay, maximise predictability and lower risk. SAP has racked up over 2,700 rapid-deployment solution customers, with at least 40 per cent reduction in time and effort compared to traditional projects of similar scope.

In its recent ERP Report, Panorama Consulting Solutions vividly illustrated why rapid-deployment solutions is proving such an enticing prospect, describing how 54 per cent of projects run over time and 56 per cent go over budget.

“Efficient and effective HR management is the cornerstone of sustainable growth, and will be vital for the UAE as it continues to develop with remarkable speed and ambition,” said Qais Gharaibeh, Managing Director - UAE, SAP MENA.

“HR decision-makers need to work on the cutting-edge if they are to truly succeed in this fast-paced, increasingly complex environment. Everything from operational efficiency to workforce wellbeing is embedded in the HR process, leaving little room for error. Those running systems that are not fit for purpose will soon fall behind the competition. SAP is proud to help the UAE stay ahead of the curve in this respect by offering the only solution of its kind that is fully attuned to the country’s needs.”

“SAP HR Core Functions for United Arab Emirates rapid-deployment solution is not just a bolted on quick fix, but an evolving, cost-effective and scalable technology. It is an extremely powerful example of our on-going localization efforts and we expect its influence to be significant not only in the UAE, but also across the region.” added Gharaibeh.
