LINKdotNET Sponsors Three Day “Characters of Egypt” Tribal Heritage Celebration

In its belief in peace, generosity of spirit, mutual respect and that there is harmony in diversity; LINKdotNET announced that it is sponsoring the second round of “Characters of Egypt 2009” event as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility Program throughout the press conference that was held on Thursday, October 1st 2009.
The event will be held at Fustat Wadi El Gemal a tented eco lodge system managed by Egyptian Desert Pioneer Society (EDPS) located in Wadi El Gemal National Park that lies south of Marsa Allam.
Wadi Environmental Science Center (WESC), EDPS and members of Al-Ababda and Al-Bashariya tribes will organize the event that starts on October 29, 2009 and ends on 31 October 2009.
This round of Characters of Egypt 2009 is expected to host tribesmen representing 21 tribes scattered throughout Egypt.
From Matrouh, in the far west-north corner, to Sinai, to the Southern Desert on the Egyptian-Sudanese borders, all are gearing up for this grand event, with some expected to travel more than 1500km to participate in this festival.
The event will be comprised of a series of games, races and sportive encounters.
There will also be numerous museum showcasing the skill of tribes people including jewelry, costumes, camel, medicinal plants, handcraft and products, and photography museums that will provide attendees with a rare and accurate insight into the life, culture and trade customs of these tribes in addition to how they survive the desert using star navigation and reading tracks.
The premise hosts a cinema tent that will screen documentaries on life in the desert. The venue also has a conference room where specialists and tribesman will give lectures on topics ranging from fauna and flora, customs and tribal law, ecosystems and ecotourism, medicinal plants and unconventional remedies.
And providing a direct link to the world, LinkdotNet will have a tent equipped with WiFi Internet and computers that will be open for use by all attendees.
