Ruler of Dubai transforms Dubai eGovernment from initiative into full-fledged department

Dubai eGovernment has announced that it has recently conducted its historic first meeting of all Dubai eGovernment employees during which the general strategy and direction of the newly established government department were presented. . From being a government initiative, Dubai eGovernment has been made a full-fledged government department after H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, issued in his capacity as Ruler of Dubai, law no 7 of 2009 establishing Dubai eGovernment department and appointing Ahmed Mohammed bin Humaidan as Director General.

H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, also issued a resolution naming Thani Abdullah Al Zafeen as Dubai eGovernment's Chief Executive Officer. Dubai eGovernment department, which will hold office in the Ruler's Court, has been mandated to devise the general strategy of Dubai eGovernment, provide leadership, guidance and supervision of the electronic transformation at governmental levels, provide and manage eServices, human capital and ICT management, knowledge and security, with world class standards. .

We are fully committed to enhance the delivery of eServices in Dubai according to world-class standards. It is our mission to help develop a digital society wherein all residents can enjoy and take advantage of the benefits of a wide range of IT-enabled government services," said Ahmed Mohammed bin Humaidan, Director General, Dubai eGovernment department.

Highlighting the emphasis on human resources of the new entity Bin Humaidan said, “Human resources will be a key area of focus for Dubai eGovernment and we believe that the well-developed pool of human resources that we have will help us take the new entity to a higher level of development.”
