Autodesk Inc., a world leader in 3D design, engineering and entertainment creation software is showcasing its latest advanced design technologies at the 2013 edition of the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Rail and Metro Summit. The event is slotted to run until October 30, 2013 at the Beach Rotana Hotel in Abu Dhabi. The USD 2.3 billion design and engineering software firm, which is recognized as the leading provider of Building Information Modeling (BIM) solutions, is participating as a bronze sponsor for the event. During the show’s opening day, Autodesk successfully leveraged the many benefits and advantages to be gained from utilizing its BIM solutions for infrastructure and construction industries like reduction of waste, optimization of cost, design and delivery for more successful and planned project outcomes.
Marek Suchocki, ENI Sales Development Executive, Autodesk, was one of the invited speakers during the event's opening day. Speaking on the topic, ‘A journey from CAD to model based rail design,’ Suchoki touched base on important design issues for the rail industry, which included adoption of BIM in Network Rail’s Building & Civil Design department; getting a Return on Investment (ROI) from pilot projects and the benefits to be gained from BIM libraries for standard design. As the pioneers of BIM, industry events such as the MENA Rail & Metro Summit, allows Autodesk professionals to learn more about the demands and challenges of the industry while at the same time raise more awareness on the practical working of BIM technology and its potential applications in Middle East’s infrastructure and construction industries.
The ninth edition of the MENA Rail & Metro Summit continues to remain as the definitive meeting place, knowledge exchange and business network for the region’s key stakeholders such as Ministries and Departments of Transport, state railways, rail operators, consultants, engineers, rail contractors, rolling stock suppliers and rail experts. The event highly complements recent industry reports showing that the MENA region is now one of the world’s fastest growing markets for rail projects. In fact, 2013 will witness the awarding of huge rail and metro projects--including plans to build more than 33,712 km of mainline routes and 3,004 km of metro, monorail and tram lines.
