Arab Academy for Science & Technology & Maritime Transport Joins SAP University Alliances Program

Published Nov 11, 2013

The Arab Academy for Science & Technology & Maritime Transport (AASTMT) has joined SAP’s globally acclaimed University Alliances program (UAP).

Supporting existing business, engineering and IT programs, the UAP provides hands-on experience of key SAP technologies.

UAP member schools gain access to the SAP Business Suite family of solutions, including SAP Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP). The comprehensive business software suite supports business, engineering and information technology programs, and enables students to put classroom theory into practice through demonstrations, problem solving exercises, case studies, and research programs.

In particular, AASTMT students will gain insight into how technology can empower businesses to optimize key processes such as accounting and controlling, human capital management, project planning, plant and materials management, and sales and distribution.

“AASTMT’s success to date is entirely due to our ability to offer an education that meets the needs of both industry and society. To truly achieve this, we need to constantly evolve, we need to be aware of our students’ needs and, crucially, we need to keep pace with scientific and technological development to a world-class level. SAP is the perfect partner for us in this respect – a true leader in its field that can really engage with our students in theory as well as practice, leaving them with vital skills that will undoubtedly improve their career prospects,” said Dr. Ismail Abdel Ghaffar, President, AASTMT.

Founded in 1972 and operated by the Arab League, AASTMT is renowned for its programs in maritime transport, engineering, management, computing, logistics, language, media, post graduates and fisheries

SAP’s UAP currently counts 47 members across the Middle East and Africa (MENA) region, incorporating 2300 students and 230 trained instructors.

“We are delighted to welcome AASTMT to the UAP, which has a long history of giving students the skills they need to add immediate value to the local job market. It also provides faculty members with the tools and resources to vividly illustrate how technology can enable integrated business processes and strategic thinking,” said Amr Ghoneim, Managing Director, SAP North Africa and Levant.

“This is a different way of learning; a platform for interaction, creativity and inspiration. Above all, it is an opportunity to collaborate with talented peers and educators, gain hands on project experience and translate theory into practice.”
