The Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency (SAMA) revealed it will deliver a major efficiency boost for bill payments across the Kingdom.
The central bank has enlisted business software leader SAP to revamp SADAD, the Kingdom’s national Electronic Bill Presentment and Payment (EBPP) back office systems, with cutting-edge technology. The project is expected to deliver unprecedented speed and accuracy, as well as a wide range of internal process improvements.
SADAD enables Saudi citizens to pay a wide range of bills at all of Saudi Arabia’s banks.
The project will see SAP deliver its first Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) project for a central bank in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
SAP’s system encompasses Financial and Human Resource Management capabilities, as well as Business Intelligence and IT Service Desk Support.
The end result aims to provide a seamless integration of information and processes between all SADAD divisions, providing effortless access, Enterprise-Level workflow automation, and reduced total cost of ownership.
Linking with SADAD enables billers to collect their payment electronically through all the banking channels in the Kingdom, which includes 9,435 ATMs, 1,442 bank branches, as well as phone and internet banking. This enables anyone to use SADAD without pre-registration, anywhere in the world.
“SAP is honoured to contribute to the improvement of SADAD, which is already doing a magnificent job providing Saudi residents with an extremely effective and flexible service,” said Ahmed Al-Faifi, Managing Director, SAP Saudi Arabia.
“SAMA understands the value of innovation and continual improvement and, together, I am confident we can build a platform that can deliver on all fronts, both now and well into the future.”
SAP has a strong global financial services track-record, and has positioned the industry as key MENA strategic target in the coming years, investing heavily in people, solutions, and partners to address pressing needs.
Globally, SAP currently boasts more than 5,700+ financial services customers, including 3,900 in the banking industry, across 120 countries. SAP solutions currently handle more than 100 million live bank accounts – with 75 million in implementation – and more than 300 million claims.
