Modern College of Business and Science in the Sultanate (MCBS) was today confirmed as the first Higher Education Institution in the region to sign up for SAP’s Dual Study Education Programme.
The programme focuses on combining and alternating SAP-specific skills and theory. The two year program is hosted at universities and interwoven with a student’s standard curriculum.
Students gain SAP certifications, project management skills and internships opportunities at SAP and its partner ecosystem both locally and globally. The Dual Study Education Programme is central to SAP’s bid to up-skill local talent in the region, and forms a key part of the company’s Training and Development Institute strategy.
“MCBS has a long and distinguished history of producing graduates that have gone on to lead and innovate in both Oman and beyond,” said Prof. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Naamany, Dean, MCBS.
“SAP’s Dual Education Programme brings a new dimension to our curriculum. This is a collaboration truly focused on delivering essential skills and encouraging new ways of thinking about the importance and power of technology at the workplace.”
Formed in 1996, MCBS is a private college licensed by the Ministry of Higher Education, and offers Bachelor degrees in Business Administration, Economics, Information System, Accounting, and Computer Science. The college also offers Master’s degree in business administration.
“We are delighted to welcome MCBS to the Dual Education Programme, which is specifically structured to address some of today’s most pressing business needs,” said Marita Mitschein, SAP Training & Development Institute Managing Director and Growth Plan Lead for SAP Middle East & North Africa.
“The combination of MCBS’s academic offerings and SAP’s business know-how will open up new career opportunities for graduates and give them early exposure to potential employers.”
SAP’s investment in identifying and supporting talent throughout the region has been significantly stepped up since the inauguration of its pioneering Training and Development Institute by H.H Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum and Dr. Werner Brandt, SAP Chief Financial officer and Executive Board Member, SAP AG, at UAE, in November 2012.
Designed to serve the entire MENA region through training and certifying SAP consultants, driving partner and customer co-innovation, and enhancing the localised SAP portfolio of solutions, the Training and Development Institute now accommodates over 40 developers, language experts and product managers. A Saudi Training and Development Institute is set to open next year.
In addition to the Dual Study Programme, the Training and Development Institute supports a host of initiatives, including Mawared (a three-month ‘bootcamp’ for young graduates), the 2nd Chance Education Program (which qualifies unemployed graduates as SAP certified consultants and users), and the University Alliances Programme (which provides participating institutions with training on the SAP Business Suite family of solutions).
