Published Jan 9, 2014

Following the success of the Liquid Z series, Acer today unveiled the Liquid Z5, a compact 5-inch smartphone designed for first time smartphone adopters or budget conscious users looking mainly for mobile browsing, photo and video clip taking anytime and mobile entertaining.

The Liquid Z5 features an amazing 5-inch screen with 16:9 aspect ratio to enhance movies and video viewing. Despite the large screen size, the Liquid Z5 is thin and easy to carry with its 8.8 mm thin profile and rounded edge.

The front speaker boosted by DTS Sound™ technology allows for a richer experience. The AcerRAPID™ button acts as a personal control key bringing even more "one-hand" control to the user allowing to unlock and/or wake-up the screen, launch the camera, take a picture, launch apps from home screen and pick up phone calls in a very intuitive way.

In an elegant glossy and silky finish design powered by Android 4.2.2, the Liquid Z5 gives users many features per square centimeter at just 145.5 x 73.5 x 8.8 mm and only 147 grams. It touts a dual-core 1.3 GHz processor, 4 GB of internal user storage, Wi-Fi, integrated GPS, and a 5-megapixel camera.

Best-in class snapper

The 5 megapixels camera is a bucket of innovations: it supports BSI technology that enables more light on sensor than traditional FSI, thus delivering better low-light sensitivity; it comes with a 5 elements f2.4 lens, instead of traditional 4 elements, to make pictures even sharper; the 1.4umx1.4um pixel size offers a better quality and less graining while in low light environments. Lastly, the IR filter reflects infrared delivering of more realistic photos and the HDR solution creates high dynamic rage images combining a higher contrast and more vivid details in one single shot.

Custom profiles 4 you

> The Liquid Z5 features four different Quick Mode profiles targeted at different users and age groups.

> Basic Mode: for youngsters with call and text functions;

> Senior Mode: messages, radio, weather, magnify, clock, quick call contacts;

> Classic mode: all main functions in a simple and organized layout for first time smartphone users;

> Keypad mode: for people who primarily use voice and need their keypad right away.

Easier multitasking with Float apps

Acer Float User Interface allows app windows to stay open, so users can multitask without having to back out of one app to work on another. The press of a key brings up the Float Apps shortcut where apps on a translucent screen float over the function being used. It is easy to access or switch Float Apps anytime and can be customized with up to 7 favored app shortcuts. A Float Caller notification ensures that users will not be interrupted by incoming calls that take over the full screen. When a call comes in, the Float Caller mini-window pops up and the user can choose to take the call or reply with a quick message.

Easy to Share Files and Media

Acer smartphones also support AcerCloud, a file sharing and media management solution that lets users easily retrieve, enjoy and share their multimedia and data files using a variety of computing devices, including the backup of your photos for 30 days. AcerCloud simplifies the management of digital assets across devices, regardless of platform, and is free on new Acer products.
