Schneider Electric’s Energy University™ Offers Online Data Center Certification Program

Published Mar 24, 2014

Schneider Electric, a global specialist in energy management, announced the availability of the Data Center Certified Associate (DCCA) online certification program through Energy University™, its industry-leading, online, vendor-neutral education tool for energy management. The DCCA certification provides data center professionals with exposure to current and emerging industry trends and practices that improve their professional credentials.

Since its regional inception in 2011, Schneider Electric’s Energy University has witnessed unparalleled growth with registrations across the Gulf increasing exponentially. Offering more than 5,191 online courses in energy efficiency and data center management focusing on infrastructure, industry, buildings, residential, as well as data centers and networks, the initiative has registered an annual growth of 5.9 per cent with 3,286 users currently signed up.

Recognizing the need for catering to a largely Arabic speaking population, Schneider Electric also offers the courses in Arabic, in addition to 12 other international languages.

Tushar Choudhury, Regional Marketing Communications Manager, Schneider Electric said: “Globally there is a high demand for skilled data center professionals and the challenges facing this industry in terms of growth, infrastructure, and management underscore this certification’s value. As a global hub for business, the UAE is increasingly attracting talent from across the world as it progresses towards its vision of becoming a knowledge-based sustainable economy. Energy University provides the perfect opportunity for all such professionals to enhance skill sets and optimize job performance with certifications in industries such as data center, energy management and more.”

The DCCA certification program provides foundational knowledge relevant to designing or upgrading the physical data centre, including power, cooling, racks, cabling, fire protection, management, and physical security. The development path is created to guide users through the preparation and course requirements necessary to prepare for the DCCA exam. With 14 courses in the path, and each courses taking less than an hour to complete, users can take the exam through their Energy University account. Importantly, the certification provides a global standard for determining an individual’s core knowledge of data center design, build, and operations.

The overall education program that started with Data Center University has provided energy efficiency education courses to professionals in over 165 countries and 13 languages since 2006. Currently Energy University has more than 350,000 users globally and more than 500,000 courses have been taken. Additionally the programs feature more than 22 global industry endorsements.

The DCCA online certification program is now the second qualifying exam available online through Energy University. In October 2012, Energy University launched the Professional Energy Manager (PEM) exam, in partnership with the Institute of Energy Professionals (IEP), to give energy-focused individuals an option for earning credentials in the growing energy management field. Since the launch, more than 60 professionals from 26 countries have been certified through the program.

Launched in 2009, Energy University’s complimentary courses exist entirely online to support anyone involved in the decision-making, management, planning, design, or construction of a space impacted by energy.
