Acer TravelMate P645 Notebook Awarded Again for Design Excellence - Earns Red Dot Award

The Acer TravelMate P645 commercial notebook has once again been honored for its product design, this time capturing the prestigious 2014 Red Dot Award. This honor closely follows Acer’s four big wins at the 2014 iF Product Design Awards last month, which also included the Acer TravelMate P645 among its winners. The TravelMate P645 is part of Acer’s line of industry-leading products designed for commercial, education and institutional customers.
In a rigorous evaluation process led by a 40-member panel of international design experts, including distinguished fashion designer Jimmy Choo, only the best products were bestowed with the sought-after award for design excellence.
“Our products are designed to be aesthetically pleasing and easy-to-use in terms of both hardware and software. Winning two of the world’s two prominent design competitions demonstrates that the Acer TravelMate P645 has clearly impressed the international expert panels with its durable design and security features,” said Sonali Bhatia, Consumer Business Unit Manager, Acer Middle East.
This year a total of 1,816 manufacturers, designers and architects from 53 nations competed in 23 categories for the Red Dot product design awards. The Acer TravelMate P645 was awarded in the computers and information technology category.
Red Dot’s adjudication process follows a canon of strict criteria, which is constantly adapted to the latest findings in formal, technical, manufacturing, societal, industrial and ecological requirements. The criteria evaluated are: degree of innovation, functionality, formal quality, ergonomics, durability, symbolic and emotional content, product periphery, self-explanatory quality, and ecological compatibility.
