UAE Launch of Worlds First 3D Printing Pen Confirmed for 01 May 2014

Published Apr 27, 2014

The 3Doodler, the world’s first 3D drawing pen, is currently being showcased by Jumbo Electronics at GITEX , Dubai World Trade Centre 23 – 26 April 2014, and will be launched in the retailer’s Mall of the Emirates, Sharjah City Centre, Al Ain Mall and Dalma Mall outlets on 01 May 2014.

Virgin Megastore will also launch the 3Doodler in its Mall of the Emirates retail outlet on 01 May, followed by Al Wahda Mall on 8th May, Dubai Mall on 15th May and Mercato Mall on 23rd May.

The 3Doodler will also be available from DUCTAC at Mall of the Emirates, and The Hub, but release dates have not yet been confirmed.

Appealing to hobbyists, artists, designers, architects and educational establishments, 3Doodler allows the creation of amazing 3D objects without the restrictions of complicated software or advanced artistic abilities or design training. Limited only by the user’s imagination, the 3Doodler requires no technical knowledge or specific skills.

Already launched in the USA and Europe, and soon in Singapore & Japan, the UAE is the 5thcountry globally to introduce the pen to market.

The 3Doodler was developed by Peter Dilworth and Maxwell Bogue of WobbleWorks Inc. Launched in February 2013 on the crowd funding platform Kickstarter, 3Doodler became the 3rd highest funded technology project of all time.

Using patent pending technology it utilizes sticks made of organic PLA or standard ABS plastic– all BPA free. The plastic feedstock is melted inside the 3Doodler and solidifies instantly when extruded from the tip, allowing users to create unique 3D objects by hand. The plastic feedstock has a 10:1 ratio, meaning for every inch placed inside the pen you get 10 inches of 3Doodles out of the pen. The 3Doodler has a metal tip that reaches high temperatures and which should not be touched, although the plastic extruded from 3Doodler is safe to touch almost immediately after leaving the pen.

Compact and easy to use, the 3Doodler can be plugged into a power socket and used immediately. This makes it ideal for freestyle 3D sketching, tracing shapes from templates to make larger architectural structures, the development of spatial skills for educational purposes, or simply a fun tool for arts and crafts enthusiasts wishing to bring 3D printing into the home.

A creative design tool rather than a children’s toy, the 3Doodler can be pre-ordered from PRECISE, or Jumbo Electronics from 23 – 26 April at GITEX 2014
